Chennai Metro Rail Limited entrusted with the implementation of Chennai Metro Rail Project requires efficient, experienced and competent persons for the under mentioned posts on contract. The engagement on contract will not entail anyone to claim for any regular employment in CMRL.
Required Qualification and Experience:
Post Code 01: Site Engineer (Civil)
Candidate must possess Graduation in Civil Engineering from a reputed University/Institute recognized by Government and should possess minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in Execution of large Infrastructure projects preferably in Metro Rail Project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
a) To carry out a variety of basic field duties at the job site related to project construction.
b) Initiate progress and final payments with owners and subcontractors.
c) Prepare daily reports as related to project progress and issues.
d) Coordinate with contractors to ensure structures are built in conformance with the contract requirements.
e) Coordinate and monitor the work of contractors.
(f) Assist in carrying out basic field duties at the job site related to general construction.
Post Code 02: Engineer (Safety)
Candidate must possess Graduation in Engineering preferably in Civil Engineering and Diploma in
Construction Safety from a reputed University /Institute recognized by Government. Possession of
safety certification from NEBOSH is desirable. Should possess minimum of 5 years of postqualification experience in overseeing and implementation of safety aspects of large Infrastructure
projects preferably Metro Rail Project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
a) Ensuring compliance of basic OHSE rules and applicable specifications. To frame safe rules and safe
working practices and ensure of on-site implementation. To have all the necessary OSHE
documentation prepared for audits. To investigate incident / accident, occupational diseases
contracted and reportable dangerous occurrences. To conduct weekly site safety inspection, routine
OHSE audit and to prepare inspection report thereof.
b) Well verse with activity hazard analysis and mitigation measures.
c) To conduct site safety inspection, hazard & risk assessment & HSE induction training regularly.
d) To ensure implementing of HSE Policy, Programme & Procedures at the sites.
e) To increase Health & Safety awareness among workers & staff.
f) Fully aware of Work Permit systems.
g) Complete knowledge of Legal Compliances.
h) Knowledge of accident investigation procedures and able to prepare safety reports
and safety violation reports.
i) The Safety Engineer needs to ensure that the work meets all the legal requirements and Building
Regulations
j) Ensure strict compliances of project OHSE specifications throughout the project.
k) Make sure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance to preset safety rules and
regulations.
l) Provide technical advice to field staff in order to ensure that construction work to proceed in safe and
secure manner.
m)Identify construction constraints and plan to carry out measures to counter them.
n) Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices. Develop hazard control
designs, methods, procedures and programs.
o) Implement, administer and advise others on hazard control programs.
p) Draft a future safety plan and statement based on real time experiences and facts.
q) Actively lead to promote the “Zero Accident Policy” throughout the project.
