> Jana Small Finance Bank gets Scheduled Bank status
Jana Small Finance Bank Ltd, which commenced banking operations in March 2018, has got the status of a Scheduled Bank. It has been put in the list of the banks included in the second schedule of RBI Act 1934.

> LIC launches Jeevan Amar protection plan
LIC has launched a new term insurance plan called Jeevan Amar. It is a non-linked, without profit, pure protection plan, and is available for sale offline. It offers the flexibility to choose from two death benefit options.

> National Medical Commission Bill passed
President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to the National Medical Commission Bill, 2019, which was passed by both Houses of Parliament. The NMC will be an overarching body, which will frame policies and coordinate activities of four autonomous boards.

> Ashok Nair to be new Director for India Service Operations
Lenovo India announced the appointment of Ashok Nair as the Director for India Service Operations. Service is a strategic focus area for Lenovo and with this appointment, Lenovo aims to become a truly customer-centric brand, while driving growth.

> Hashim Amla retires from International Cricket
South Africa batsman Hashim Amla, 36 announced his retirement from international cricket. He hit 55 international centuries, 28 in Tests and 27 in ODIs playing 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20Is between 2004 and 2019.

> Govt sanctions over 5,500 electric buses under FAME Phase II
The Department of Heavy Industry approved the sanction of 5,595 electric buses to 64 cities, state government entities, and state transport undertakings for intracity and intercity operation under FAME India scheme Phase II to push for clean mobility.

> PNB Housing raises $75 million in ECB from Sumitomo Mitsui Bank
PNB Housing Finance has raised USD 75 million or Rs 522 crore external commercial borrowing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Singapore. The ECB is under the RBI's automatic route of approval.

> PV Sindu in Forbes list of world's highest-paid female athletes
As per Forbes released a list of World's Highest-Paid Female Athletes badminton star P V Sindhu with total earnings of 5.5 million dollars is the only athlete from the country to be named among the achievers. Serena Williams topped the list.

> ADB to provide USD 200 million for rural projects in Maharashtra
Asian Development Bank approved a USD 200 million loan for improving road infrastructure in 34 districts of Maharashtra to better connect rural areas with markets and services. It will also work with the rural infrastructure agency, the MRRDA.

> Sudha Rani Relangi appointed as Director of Prosection in CBI
Sudha Rani Relangi has been appointed Director of Prosecution in the Central Bureau of Investigation. She will serve for two years with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until, whichever is earlier.

> DBS Bank ties with Social Alpha
DBS Bank India has tied up with technology business incubator Social Alpha to mentor enterprises that focus on sectors such as inclusion, healthcare, and the environment. DBS Bank will also give an annual program grant of Rs 1 crore.

> IFC and MIGA to support wind farm in Egypt
IFC and MIGA, members of the World Bank Group, have signed an agreement to support the development of a 252-megawatt wind farm by Lekela in Egypt's Red Sea governorate. IFC will provide USD 84 million financings while MIGA will offer USD 122 million in financial guarantees.

> Indian Bank signs an agreement with Cholamandalam MS General Insurance
Indian Bank signed a corporate agency agreement with Cholamandlam MS General Insurance Company for the distribution of its insurance products to bank customers. Indian Bank has 2,872 branches, across the country.

> HDFC Life Insurance included in MSCI index
Global provider of capital market indices, Morgan Stanley Capital International, has included HDFC Life Insurance Company to its Global Standard Index. 

> Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana launched 
Agri Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced the launching of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, a pension scheme for small and marginal farmers in which the farmers would get a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 once he or she would attain the age of 60.

> Yes Bank launches QIP to raise USD 285 million
Yes, Bank has embarked on a plan to generate USD 285 million by selling shares through a qualified institutional placement. The bank's core Tier 1 capital ratio declined to 8 percent in June 2019.

> Air India launched 'Discover India' scheme
The scheme is rolled out to meet the growing demands of passengers to fly to different places of tourist and religious interest within the country by the Indian diaspora and foreign tourists.
