Medieval History Day 1 - Invasion of Islam in India

Day 1

712 AD

Muhammad Bin Qasim, Arabian, attacked Sindh (India) and defeated the king of Sindh, Dahir.

713 AD

A year later after the successful attack on Sindh, Muhammed Bin Qasim attacked Multan (India) and called it - 'Swaran Nagri' (Golden City).

# Muhammed Bin Qasim started Jazia Tax in India.

Ghazni Dynasty

In 963 AD, Alaptagin founded the Ghazni dynasty in Afganistan. Mahmud Ghazni was the king of the Ghazni dynasty.

1001 AD

Mahmud Ghazni attacked India and defeated king Jaipal. He attacked India a total of 17 times from 1001 AD and 1027 AD.

1025 AD

He attacked and looted Somnath temple of Gujrat. When he was going back to Afganistan after looting the Somnath Temple, a Jat tribe looted him in the way.

1027 AD

The last attack of Mahmud Ghazni was against the Jat community. He died in 1030 AD

Mohammed Gori

Mohammed Gori was the king of Gaur, Afganistan. He attacked Multan in 1175 AD.

1178 AD - Gori attacked Gujrat and was defeated by Bheem II.

Battle of Tarain 1 

The battle of Tarain (in Haryana) 1 was fought between Mohammed Gori and Prithviraj Chauhan in 1191 AD. Prithviraj Chauhan defeated Mohammed Gori.

Battle of Tarain 2

The second battle of Tarain was fought in 1192 AD and Gori defeated Prithviraj Chauhan this time because Jaichand, king of U.P, did not help Prithviraj Chauhan in the battle.

Battle of Chandawar

Gori defeated Jaichand in the battle of Chandawar in 1194 AD. 

# Khilji, the commander of Gori, destroyed Nalanda Vikramshila Vishavavidalya.

Khokhar community of Haryana killed Gori on 15 March 1206 in India.

Slave Dynasty (1206 -1290 AD)

Founder - Quitubbuddin Aibak (slave and son-in-law of Gori)

Qutub Vansh (1206 - 1210 AD)

Founder - Quitubbuddin Aibak

Capital - Lahore

Quitubbuddin Aibak took titles

- Hatim II

Quitubbuddin Aibak built Qutub Minar in the memory of Sufi saint Quitubbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki. He also started Qubvat ul Islam in Delhi and Dhai din ka Jhopda in Ajmer.
